Tampa, Florida-native bass Rick Agster has been singing classical music his entire life. From his early training as a boy soprano soloist trained in the English cathedral Royal School of Church Music style, to his flowering interest in opera, oratorio and art song from high school through a college degree in vocal performance, Rick has continued to develop his gifts as a classical singer. Rick is now based in New York City.
Audiences thrill to Rick's 6'5" height, dramatic flair, "excellent comic relief" and "warm basso voice and persona."
Most recently, Rick appeared as Benoit and Alcindoro in La Boheme with MidAtlantic Opera; appeared as Police Chief Bimson in the world premiere of The Silk City with Garden State Opera; covered the roles of Kings Marcellus and Hjalmar in the world premiere of Princess Maleine by Whitney George with Dell'Arte Opera Ensemble; appeared as Old Gypsy in il Trovatore with Regina Opera; and appeared as Benoit and Alcindoro in La Boheme and reprised his appearance as Trader in Scrooge, all with Amore Opera. Other notable roles include Commendatore in Don Giovanni; Doctor Grenvil in La Traviata; Balthazar in Amahl and the Night Visitors; Antonio and Bartolo in Le Nozze di Figaro; and Bogdonowitsch in The Merry Widow.
In February, Rick will appear as Simone in Gianni Schicchi with Regina Opera; in April as Zuniga in Carmen with Utopia Opera; in May as Police Chief Bimson in The Silk City with Garden State Opera; and in August, Rick will appear as Rochefort in Anna Bolena and cover the Archbishop in the New York premiere of the new opera Juana by Carla Lucero, both with dell'Arte Opera Ensemble.
